Primarily letters to Daingerfield Fauntleroy from his family and superior officers, including Commander William Mervine, in
part while serving as a captain in the U.S. Navy in charge of American occupation troops around Monterey after the Mexican
War. Also includes his U.S. Naval commission, a note of indebtedness (1847) to Fauntleroy from William A. Leidesdorff with
documents relating to subsequent payment of note, and a Society of California Pioneers letter (1873) to his son, Captain W.H.
Fauntleroy, acknowledging his donation of his father's papers.
